Human Intellect in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

This research investigates how the development and widespread use of artificial intelligence may transform human intellectual life. It examines the relationship between human intelligence and artificial intelligence not simply in terms of technological capability, but in relation to thought, reasoning, intellectual agency, autonomy, language, creativity, and the conditions of intellectual freedom.

Primary research question: How does the development and use of artificial intelligence affect human intellectual capacity, autonomy, and freedom of thought?

Supporting lines of inquiry:

- What is the relationship between human intelligence and artificial intelligence as forms of reasoning? - How does cognitive delegation to AI systems reshape judgement, memory, attention, and imagination? - What happens to intellectual agency when reasoning is increasingly mediated by machines? - How do language and intellectual communication change when generated text becomes ordinary? - What conditions preserve independent thought in societies saturated by AI systems?

The project is interdisciplinary. It combines philosophical and conceptual analysis with empirical and technical study of AI systems, and with research on language and intellectual communication. Work proceeds through conceptual papers, structured discussion, and collaborative review, with the aim of producing a coherent theoretical framework supported by evidence.

Planned outputs include peer-reviewable research papers, working papers, and public essays. Publications and findings will be listed here as they are released.

Status: ongoing. The project is in its foundational phase — framework development, literature and system review, and first paper drafting.
